Great Times

This past week I have had some especially great times. I have experienced more of Thai culture, conviction, American food, and just plain fun.

As far as culture, I was surprised last week to show up on Thursday at the complex and hear that no students would be coming to English club as they were all heading home for the election on Sunday. Still, the time turned into a great opportunity to visit with P Gai. (And the election went peacefully, praise God!) Also, for fun on Saturday, Doni, Asia and I went to the Gai Yung (Grilled Chicken) stand right outside our neighborhood and ate in the little huts. The weather was perfect with a steady breeze and the food was delicious as always!

Doni was our photographer...Asia is on the left, I'm on the right.

Friday night was the send off party for Kylie who left for a mission trip in Argentina and I will miss her like crazy, but I really enjoyed the homemade ice cream and movie night with the team. I have had several movie nights and other fun times while living with each of the families, but one especially good time the team enjoys each week is Wednesday night Bible study. We are going through the gospel transformation series which is pretty much killer on conviction. So far, while I've been here, we have talked about idolatry, lust, self-righteousness, and anger. God has been convicting me very clearly about where these sins are rooted in my heart and teaching me that only He can (and will!) change me. Praise to my God who loves me enough to look at the ugliness inside of me, love me anyways, and help me.

On Sunday the team gathered for team worship and we enjoyed an all out American 4th of July meal courtesy of the Weimer family. It was a great time of fellowship and fun. I am doing my best to live in the moment so that time doesn't go too fast, but it is still flying by. I will deeply miss this team and the times we have had when I am back in the States.

But I'm not gone yet! This week and next I'm living at the Nesbitt house, coloring and doing homework with their children, and enjoying having four younger brothers and sisters for a few days. Tonight I finally caught one of the cute little house lizards. I was SO happy to finally catch one and get some up close shots. This one was a baby and so it held still much longer than any normal lizard would have.

I have already finished language lessons and now this week will be my last week at KKVS (where I help with Kindergarten). I get to help teach some this week and I go to Bangkok on Thursday for a short ministry trip with the ladies of the team. I'll return to Khon Kaen on Saturday.

Please pray with me for...
  • Spiritual protection for the team and our family and friends.
  • Safety for Debbie, Doni, Kaylin, and I as we travel and are in Bangkok. Pray that God will use our time there according to His plan and for His glory.
  • Good goodbyes to the Kindergarteners and staff at KKVS this week. Pray that those 18 little children will each have people in their lives who will tell them about Christ and show them Jesus' love.
  • God's leading for the last two English clubs and that He would use them as He sees fit.

Praise God for...
  • Great times in Thailand and with the team.
  • God's love which abounds even though He sees into my heart.
  • Fun creations like little lizards that are just plain cute!
  • Family and friends like you who are lifting me up in prayer.
