There It Went!

Last week went by like a flash! One day I was moving to the Nesbitt's house for my last week-and-a-half here in Thailand. Then, all of a sudden, it was the next Sunday!

Monday was a fun trip with the team to a small Japanese restaurant to discuss Thai culture and which parts are especially difficult to understand and abide by. In many ways the Thai culture is opposite of American culture, and in a few ways it is polar opposite.

Tuesday Kaylin let me help to teach the K1 group (ages 2-3) and Thursday I got to help teach K2 (age 4). Thursday was also my very last day at KKVS. I will miss those kids like crazy. I feel that after 6 weeks of time invested with them I have just begun to know them and to truly, deeply care about them. Very few of them have anyone in their lives who knows Jesus, so please pray with me that God will give them oppotunities to hear of Jesus' love for them, death, and resurrection so they can know God.

Teaching at KKVS on Tuesday...learning colors!
One of the bonuses of teaching at KKVS was the massive grassy playground where butterflies the size of my hand, soccer balls, the occasional stray dog, frogs, (and once even a snake!) like to hang out. I spent 10 minutes on Thursday trying to get a non-blurry picture of this beautiful butterfly.

After school on Thursday I flew down to Bangkok with Doni. There we met Debbie and Kaylin for a weekend of learning about the ministry of Nightlight, a jewelry making business that employs women who want a way out of prostitution. During our time there we were able to meet the director and tour the buildings. You can visit their website to learn more about their ministry and to buy their jewelry at http://www.nightlightinternational.com/. It was a very meaningful trip to the team because we are in Khon Kaen, one of the poorer regions of Thailand, where many prostitutes come from. The team in Khon Kaen hopes someday to be involved in restoring dignity and providing jobs for women who are at risk of going into similar work or women who want out of prostitution. I asked for prayer that we would be safe and God would go with us on our trip, and He certainly did come with us each step of the way. But our time in Bangkok was not all serious. I also had a great time getting to know the women of the team better while exploring another area of Thailand, getting head and foot massages, watching a movie, and praying. Saturday afternoon Debbie and I flew back up to Khon Kaen.

Altogether it was a well spent week...and my last full week in Thailand. I can't believe how fast the time has gone!
