Trust & Elisabeth Elliot

My bathroom book this last semester was "Keep a Quiet Heart" by Elisabeth Elliot. The book is a collection of 1-2 page reminders of scriptural truth with examples from Elisabeth's life or circumstances she knows of. Every time I read a few pages I seemed to hear exactly what I needed. So two days ago, when I finished reading through the minor prophets, I paged through to review the wisdom Elisabeth had to offer. I ended up on page 157, "How to Discover What God Wants." I'll quote the first paragraph...

"A young woman came in great perplexity to a Scottish preacher, asking how she could resolve the question of her own desires when they seemed to be in such contradiction to the will of God. He tood out a slip of paper, wrote two words on it, handed it to her with the request that she sit down for ten minutes, ponder the words, corss out one of them, and bring the slip back to him. She sat down and read: No Lord. Which to cross out? It did not take her long to see that if she was saying No she could not say Lord, and if she wanted to call Him Lord, she could not say No."
So which am I saying with my life? As I prepare to go to Thailand, am I agreeing to whatever the Lord leads me to, choosing to trust and obey? Or, am I saying no.

Please pray with me that...
  • I will trust and obey God however and wherever He leads in Thailand.
  • My family and friends will also trust God and not be anxious for me.
  • My visa will arrive and I will pack wisely.

Here's my choice.

  1. I hope your visa has arrived. I pray for a profound experience of saying YES to God this summer.
