He Gives More

My friend was going to give blood and asked if anyone would go with her. Now, I have been scared of needles as long as I can remember. However, I hate being afraid of things, so I decided to go to watch and to see what it was like. However, when I got there, I changed my mind. I decided there was no point in just hanging out when I could be helping too. So, I took the next walk-in card and waited. After the process was done, I was so proud of myself. I updated my Facebook and saved my "I Gave Blood" sticker for my scrapbook. I enjoyed examining my tiny, almost invisible, wounds and knowing what I had accomplished. Then, a friend commented on my Facebook status. The comment said, [Jesus] gave blood too.

Whoa. I knew that, but I had forgotten. Here I was, admiring my self-sacrificing attitude, while Christ gave His whole life. His wounds are obvious in his hands, his feet, his head, and his side. It's those wounds "which mar the chosen One" that "bring many sons to glory." Amen! Christ's death and resurrection are why I am alive and God can use me to give spiritual life to others.

Because Christ has redeemed me, He is enough. I need no more and no less than Christ. God has graciously reminded me of this recently through the end of Habakkuk 3. However, He has chosen to give me more. He has provided abundantly for my trip to Thailand, He is preparing my heart, and working out details. He does not need me but He chooses to use me. Praise His name! He is God—sovereign, good, just, loving, forgiving—all to an extent I cannot even imagine.
·         Praise God that He continually reminds me He is enough, yet gives me more. He is a good Father!
·         Praise God for my travel plans coming together! My flight tickets are already purchased!
·         Pray that God will bring together the remaining details of planning/packing for this trip amidst the busyness of finals. Specifically, now I am working on getting my visa.
